Working on Two Products: Velyn Dental and BuckHound
Building in Public
Three weeks after founding Autonomy AI, we're working on two products simultaneously: Velyn Dental (AI-powered front desk for dental practices) and BuckHound (AI shopping assistant for smarter buying decisions).
Both are still early-stage in the bigger company journey, but the distribution is different now: BuckHound is live on web + iOS, while Velyn Dental remains in limited beta testing. Here's the current state of each.
Velyn Dental: AI Front Desk for Dental Practices
Velyn Dental is further along. It's already handling real phone calls for a few beta practices, answering calls, capturing context, and routing the next step to the right team member.
What's working:
- Natural conversation flow (Claude-powered understanding)
- Sub-2-second response times most of the time
- Voicemail transcription and SMS delivery
- Basic scheduling and routing
What needs work:
- Better handling of complex questions
- More reliable webhook delivery
- Improved error recovery when APIs are slow
A few dental teams are testing it after-hours to catch patient calls they'd normally miss. Early feedback is positive, but there's a lot to improve.
BuckHound: AI Shopping Assistant
BuckHound is live. The core product already tracks prices, scores deals with historical context, and sends push notifications when a saved item hits target or drops into a strong range.
What's working:
- Product monitoring across Amazon, eBay, and Newegg
- Deal scoring with historical analysis and charts
- Push notifications on web + iOS
What needs work:
- Better shopping preference customization
- Retail expansion beyond Amazon, eBay, and Newegg
- Subscription billing infrastructure
- Sharper ranking on borderline deals
We have about a dozen early users testing it, mostly on tech products and home goods.
Why Two Products at Once?
Honestly, it's probably ambitious for a solo founder. But both products share the same core idea: AI that acts proactively instead of waiting to be asked.
Velyn Dental acts on incoming calls. BuckHound acts on shopping signals. Same philosophy, different contexts.
What's Next
Over the next month:
- Get Velyn Dental solid enough for broader beta
- Refine BuckHound push timing and retailer coverage
- Set up proper billing for both products
- Onboard 20-30 beta customers total
The goal isn't to be perfect—it's to learn fast and build something people actually want to use.
